#2019 – GIJ publishes admission list for Journalism Students [Updated]


The Ghana Institute of Journalism has updated its of qualified applicants who have gained admission to pursue B.A. In Communication Studies [Journalism Option] for the 2019/2020 Academic Year.

Numbering about two hundred and forty three (243) from the updated list, these [newly admitted] students shall undergo tuition in various Communication/Media related courses for the next Eight (8) Academic Semesters. (2019 – 2023)

Late last month, the school released a list of students, who have been approved to pursue Diploma In Communication Studies.

Please Note: Students who gain admission to study at the Ghana Institute of Journalism shall receive a confirmation message and other relevant information via SMS and/or E-mail.

Per directives from the school’s Management, Registration of First Semester courses shall begin on 12th August, 2019.

Also, orientation and matriculation of freshmen shall come off on 19th – 23rd August and 20th September, 2019 respectively.

Lectures will however start on 26th August, 2019 for Regular Students (Diploma & Degree) and 31st August, 2019 for Weekend Diploma and Top up students.

Freshmen admitted to pursue B.A. In Communication Students will be required to pay a Nonrefundable amount of GH¢2,400.00 as their fees for the 2019/2020 Academic Year.

Students admitted to pursue Diploma In Communication Studies will be required to pay GH¢2,200.00 (Nonrefundable) as their fees.

Additionally, freshmen are required to pay GH¢90.00 (Nonrefundable) as their SRC Dues. » [Click to download the Fees for 2019/2020]

Usually, continuing students are required to pay at least 60% of their fees to enable them register an Academic Year. But, when it comes to freshmen, the percentage is determined by the school’s Management.

“Well, when I got admission to study Journalism in 2016, students were made to pay at least 80% of the fees before registration. For this Academic Year, I can not predict the percentage to be paid by Freshmen. Management will surely decide.”
